The Fringe opens Highland-style — with a twist.

Opening CH-eilidh kicks off Inverness Fringe Festival in the Grand Hall of the Town House: choir first, then the floor fills.

Just Sing Choir open the night. This is Inverness’s mixed-voice a cappella group — gospel, folk, pop and world harmony, learned by ear and built for lifting a room. Their voices were made for a civic hall like this.

Then the Reeling Ceilidh Band, led by Rachel Campbell-Hardiman, take over. Rachel is an Inverness fiddler, singer and teacher who has spent years putting traditional music back into the city’s hands. She and the band call the steps so you don’t need to know a Gay Gordons from a Strip the Willow. Bring dancing shoes. They’ll do the rest.

A celebration of the city centre: Highland tradition, Fringe energy, a bar on the night, and a hall built for a crowd.
