They wrote the jokes. Now they take the mic.
Award-winning comedian Viv Gee presents a live showcase of comics who have come through the Inverness Fringe Beginner’s Stand-Up Comedy Workshops — at An Seòmar.
Viv has taught stand-up for more than 25 years. Her former students include Richard Gadd (Baby Reindeer), Mark Nelson, Jay Lafferty, Susie McCabe, Des McLean and Des Clarke. She has lectured at the University of Strathclyde, directed Fringe shows, and still works rooms from Glasgow to Bangkok. For Inverness Fringe she ran four workshop sessions covering writing, structure, persona, timing and microphone craft. This is the night those sessions were built for.
The comics on stage are not touring circuit names. They are the people who turned up, wrote their own material, and earned a slot at the end of the festival. First-time sets, Highland voices, jokes that didn’t exist a month ago.
Viv hosts. They perform. An Seòmar on Church Street becomes a comedy room for one Fringe night: new material, live nerves, and the kind of laughs you only get when someone is doing it for the first time in front of a real crowd.
