Funk and Brass at the Fringe - Oxbow Lake Group and Scratch and Brass - Inverness Fringe Festival

Horns, Hammond, and a community hall that is about to get louder. This is the Fringe’s funk and brass night: Oxbow Lake Group and Scratch 'n' Brass sharing Kenneth Street for two and a half hours of groove.

Oxbow Lake Group are the Highland funk/soul outfit built around Andy “Oxbow” Clucas — high-energy funkiness next to mid-tempo soul, heavy on horns and organ, a band that has spent years proving you do not need a city postcode to get national radio play. Think Dexys energy, Style Council snap, and a festival-stage habit that does not shrink just because the room is a hall.

Scratch 'n' Brass bring the other half of the brief: brass up front, funk underneath, a showcase built to fill the space between the chairs and the ceiling.
